Can I plant some flowers??

4/27/2021 (Permalink)

Spring Flowers growing in a field. The sign of Spring is here!

When can you start planting flowers for Spring?

The days are getting longer and finally getting warmer – we experienced some crazy weather here in the South throughout the month of April and we have all had to dress accordingly but let’s hope we are now over the cold hump and morning frost are over for the year.

Most gardeners will advise that it is ok to starting planting flowers after Mother’s Day. I am sure most of us have heard this from our own parents and grandparents over the years, but the truth is they are spot on!  Mother’s Day in many climate zones signifies late Spring, and for most the start of planting annuals and hanging your ferns.  Before picking out your favorites flowers for planting make sure evaluate the sun and shade levels around your home and planting area and pick flowers that will be sure to add that pop of color after a long dreary winter. Happy Planting and Hello Sweet Summertime!
