September is National Preparedness Month (NPM). This is recognized every year in September to prepare and promote family and community disaster planning now. The 2021 theme is “Prepare to Protect. Preparing for disasters is protecting everyone you love.” SERVPRO has joined with other agencies such as the American Red Cross, The Weather Channel, and the EPA to promote safety and disaster preparedness for families across the country.
Week 1 – Make A Plan
Discuss with your family and friends how you will communicate through a disaster.
Week 2 – Build A Kit
Purchase supplies- batteries – flashlights and nonperishable food and water.
Week 3 – Low-No Cost Preparedness
Sign up for emergency alerts, safeguard important documents and have some spare cash on hand in a secure place for emergencies.
Week 4 -Teach Youth About Preparedness
Share important information with your kids about emergency safety and what to do incase you should get separated from them during an emergency.
