It’s Vacation Time!

Man who is currently in vacation mode with no worries.

Summer is finally here and it’s time to pack up the family and head out of town for a family vacation, but before you head out make sure you have prepared your home so you can have a worry -free vacation. Taking these extra measures will insure your home is the way you left it when you return.

• Secure outdoor furniture and grills in the event a storm should hit while you are away
• Check your cutters and downspouts to assure they are clear of any debris
• If you have a pool, bring your toys, and supplies inside
• Secure all windows and doors – including pet doors as you don’t want any wildlife setting up residences while your away.
• Unplug appliances and electronics
• Turn your toilet valves off to avoid any water damage and if you want to go extra – turn the water off to your home at the main valve. Just be sure to run the faucets until they are dry.
• Adjust your thermostat
• Contact your security company and let them know you how long you will be away and let your trustworthy neighbor know your plans too – sometimes they can be better than your own security system.

Following these simple steps can assure your vacation time will be stress and worry free! Enjoy your vacation – you’ve earned it!
